The Chief Guest for the program was Shri. Lukose Vallatharai, retired IAS officer and currently the Independent External Monitor for New Managlore Port Trust. The Guests of honor included Shri. Duddu Muralidhar, Director, SNAM Group of Companies and Dr. Seetharaman Mohan, Chairman, Advisory Board of CSR Initiatives, Alliance University.
The program was presided by our Chairman Dr. T Somasekhar. Mrs. Bharathi T, Secretary and Dr. Suneelkrishna Thummala, Member, Trust, Indian Academy Group of Institutions graced the occasion. Dr. E Jerome Xavier, Principal, Indian Academy Degree College – Autonomous, Prof. Elizabeth Leena, Principal, Indian Academy Nursing College and Mrs. Rajeswari, Principal, Indian Academy Pre- University College were also a part of the inaugural program.
The program commenced with an invocation song by Ms. Becky Varkey of III Sem MBA followed by formal welcome speech by Dr. S. Rajasekar, Director, IASMS. The Chief Guest and Guests of Honor were introduced by Dr. Puja Archana Sahu. The Chief Guest, Shri. Lukose Vallatharai in his address focused on how essential it is for management students to develop the right skill set, attitude, ethical values, the ability to build good relations and be sensitive to the cause of the needy so that they stand apart in this constantly changing and competitive world. After the Chief Guest adress a video appraising the audience on the various Management Club activities of IASMS was played.
This was followed by interesting talks by the guests of honor. Shri. Duddu Muralidhar, Director, SNAM Group of Companies shared his thoughts on how to be successful and reach one’s goals. In his talk he quoted Bill Gates mentioning what students do not learn in college. To mention a few of them – Life is not Fair Get used to it, The world won’t care about your self-esteem, If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss. The session was useful in unveiling the realities of a very competitive outside world that management students would confront once they complete their management education. Hence preparedness and proactive learning is essential for MBA students.
Dr. Seetharaman Mohan, Chairman, Advisory Board of CSR Initiatives, Alliance University, gave an interesting talk on how MBA students could be effective mangers, upholding their values and adopting the approach of Knowing – the willingness to explore the new, Doing – Practical application of what is learnt and Being – openness to examining your behavior in relation to values and beliefs. This approach would help in enabling the transformation from an individual performer to a competent leader.
In the concluding address Chairman, Dr. T Somasekhar reiterated and emphasized on all the valuable inputs given by the eminent speakers. He urged the students to emulate and aspire to achieve heights of success attained by the esteemed speakers.
The inaugural program concluded with a vote of thanks by Shine M Roy of III Semester MBA.
